Below is a list of projects that have been submitted to the PTBA for bid. Please respond directly to the listing agency for further information or to submit your bid. The PTBA has no control or input into the contracting or solicitation of these projects. We list them strictly as a service to the trail industry.
Nature Trail Completion: Erosion control & removal of snags and invasive species in MO
Erosion control with water bars and edging needed on a trail length of approximately 1000 linear feet. Removal of snags and invasive species as needed.
Improve Backcountry Country Trails in VA (USDoT-Funded Project)
This is an USDoT-funded RTP project in partnership with the Appalachian Conservation Corps, the George Washington National Forest and the Shenandoah Valley Bicyle Coalition to improve backcountry trails on the North River Ranger District in Virginia.
Build an ADA-compliant trail & parking space and gravel parking lot in PA
Central Pennsylvania Conservancy is seeking a contractor to build an ADA-compliant trail and parking space, in additon to a gravel parking lot at our Letort Spring Garden Preserve in Carlisle, PA.
Development of 2 individual master plans to study & recommend implementation for future connectivity and sustainability in Virginia
The Gateways to Southwest Virginia: Outdoor Economy Recreation Planning Project is an initiative led by Friends of Southwest Virginia to extend regional outdoor recreation planning to the LENOWISCO and West Piedmont Planning Districts by developing two individual master plans to study and recommend implementation for future connectivity and sustainability of Lee, Wise, Scott, Patrick and Henry counties and the cities of Martinsville and Norton.
Trail Maintenance in Idaho
The Payette National Forest is now accepting bids on the French Creek Bear Pete ridge project. The project clears, brushes and maintains 32 miles of trail. See sam.gov for more information and to submit quotes.
Design & construction of 2.5 miles of trail and 2 kiosks in South Carolina
The design and construction of an approximately 2.5-mile of new trail as a part of the existing 7.5-mile Lake Whelchel trail system and the construction of two kiosks.
Mountain Bike Trail Construction in Canada
MORATA finished constructing an iconic destination trail on Morfee Mountain in Mackenzie BC in the summer of 2023. This trail features 7 km of alpine cross-country riding with stunning views that leads into a 7 km downhill trail that has three distinctive build styles. MORATA has received more funding to continue expanding the downhill cycling network on the lower half of Morfee Mountain. Our vision is to build enough diverse trail to attract a variety of riders at different skill levels and be an attractive destination that riders want to visit year after year.
Trail Clearing and Brushing in Montana
This solicitation is for various combinations of trail clearing and brushing on approximately 33 miles of trail on the Hungry Horse-Glacier View Ranger District on Flathead National Forest in Northwest Montana. An additional 18 miles of clearing and brushing is listed as option items.
Development of 11.7 miles of multi-use trails
The City of Grants Pass, Oregon, is soliciting sealed written proposals from qualified trail construction contractors for the development of approximately 11.7 miles of new dual-purpose and single-use trails, including reroutes, mountain biking descending- and climb-only trails, and two-way routes for hiking and mountain biking.

Conversion of Harrison Hollow Loop Trail to an all-weather trail and increasing length of trail by approximately 1,200 feet. Trail is located via Harrison Hollow Lane off Bogus Basin Road in N. Boise.
Pedestrian Walking Trail Construction in WA
This multi-agency project between University Place, Lakewood and Pierce County will fulfill a long-standing community desire to connect the cities of University Place and Lakewood, via a pedestrian walking trail.
Construction of multi-use trail in New Mexico
The project will consist of constructing approximately 11 miles of trails in the Zuni Mountains of the Mt. Taylor Ranger District.
Plan and construct a rock retaining wall, ramp, and stairs in Taos, NM
The Enchanted Circle Trails Association (ECTA) seeks a qualified contractor to plan and construct a rock retaining wall, ramp, and stairs to replace the current structure at the Devisadero Trailhead in Taos, New Mexico. This new structure, around 47 feet long and six feet wide, will rise gradually towards the “Welcome to Taos” sign and incorporate a ramp with side steps. The construction will employ natural rocks sourced locally or commercially for a visually seamless appearance that blends with the natural surroundings. The project must be finished by December 31, 2024.
Construction of new, natural surfaced, non motorized trail in Wyoming
The project consists of the Construction of the Pilot Hill/Pole Mountain Connector Trail Phases 2A and 2B on the Pole Mountain Unit of the Medicine Bow-Routt National Forests and Thunder Basin National Grassland, near Laramie, Wyoming.
Trails Master Planning for Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District (Ohio)
MWCD is asking for proposals to develop a master trails plan that would outline future trail development within the district. MWCD is a political subdivision located in eastern Ohio and was created for flood control and mitigation. MWCD manages over 42,000 acres of land and 16,000 acres of water spread throughout 10 reservoirs.
Supply & Installation of 2 pre-engineered bridges in AK
The Waterfall to Ptarmigan Bridges and Trail Construction Project is for the supply and installation of 2 pre-engineered steel trail bridges, spanning approximately 50 feet across Waterfall Creek and 80 feet across Ptarmigan Creek, and for the construction of approximately 2.8 miles of new trail between these bridges on the Chugach National Forest north of Seward, Alaska. Trail construction methodology will follow a linear grading model where design features are guided by specifications listed in the attached Appendix A, Scope of Work, but final features are determined in the field during construction by the contractor with final approval by the USDA Forest Service (FS) Representative.
Rehab and Construction of Singletrack Trail in MN
COGGS (Cyclists of Gitchee Gumee Shores) invites proposals for the rehabilitation,
widening, and necessary water management for approximately ±4,000 feet of existing bike-optimized, machine-built singletrack. Builder will need to follow Specification 15 in the “Trail Specification Matrix”. This trail segment is vital as it will seamlessly connect with a newly constructed “Universally Accessible Trail” scheduled for completion in the summer of 2024. The primary objective of this maintenance project is to create a fully inclusive loop accessible to all mountain bike riders, including those with adaptive bikes.
Phase 2: Design and Construction of Natural Surface Hiking Trail in OH
This project, Phase 2, will connect to Phase 1 on both ends and make not only the Buckeye Trail connection but also bring together existing campgrounds, parking areas, and other various points of interest.
