Below is a list of projects that have been submitted to the PTBA for bid. Please respond directly to the listing agency for further information or to submit your bid. The PTBA has no control or input into the contracting or solicitation of these projects. We list them strictly as a service to the trail industry.

Constructing a wheelchair accessible .6 mile trail around the perimeter of a pond for a therapeutic horsemanship center.
Provide trail and trail facility planning services in WV
West Virginia University on behalf of its Board of Governors (“BOG”) located in Morgantown, West Virginia (“WVU” or “University”) is initiating this Request for Proposals (“RFP”) to solicit proposals from qualified firms or individuals (“Proposers”) for: A qualified team to provide trail and trail facility planning services at Kanawha State Forest. The anticipated work includes assessment of the current trails, associated support facilities, and potential opportunities for trail improvements and additions. The objective is a guidance document that lays out a trail based outdoor recreation and management and development strategy for the next decade. Work is expected to be completed by September 2026.
Natural surface trail construction for 3.9-4.5 miles of new trails in ME
The City of Rockland, Maine is soliciting proposals from qualified natural surface trail construction contractors for the development of approximately 3.9 to 4.5 miles of new trails, including nonmotorized shared-use trails and mountain bike-only descending trails.

New Trail Construction (3 miles) in ME
Elliotsville Foundation Inc. is seeking a Contractor to provide new trail construction at 7 Ponds Preserve in the Monson, Maine region. This phase of the trail system project will include construction of approximately 3 miles of new sustainable natural surface adaptive optimized and adaptive friendly mountain bike trails.
Construction for 2 new single tracks (4.53 miles) in VT
We seek proposals for implementing trail construction for two new single-track segments of the Velomont Trail between Townsend Brook Road and the Bloodroot Gap area in Chittenden, VT, located within the Green Mountain National Forest. Total trail mileage is approximately 4.53 miles.
Supply and installations of bridges in AK
The National Forest Foundation (NFF), in partnership with the U.S. Forest Service, is pleased to announce a Request for Proposals (RFP) to continue the construction of the Iditarod National Historic Trail (INHT) on the Chugach National Forest, Alaska. The project will include the supply and installation a 120-foot bridge at Wolverine Creek and the installation of a 40-foot timber bridge with government furnished superstructure materials.

This project involves the restoration of an area heavily damaged during Hurricane Helene; construction takes place entirely within the corridor of the original Gateway Trailhead parking lot. Construction of a pedestrian suspension bridge project in Alaska
An Invitation to Bid is currently open for the construction of a pedestrian suspension bridge project in Girdwood, Alaska. The project is located within the Municipality of Anchorage (MOA) on the Iditarod National Historic Trail. The subject project replaces an existing hand tram with a new suspension bridge.
Development of a Gravel and Bikepacking Route Network in WV
The Fayette Raleigh Metropolitan Planning Organization, in partnership with the WVU Smith Outdoor Economic Development Collaborative (OEDC) and regional stakeholders, is seeking a qualified consultant or firm to design and develop a comprehensive gravel and bikepacking route network throughout the New River Gorge Region of West Virginia, encompassing Nicholas, Fayette, Raleigh, and Summers Counties. The project aims to connect key communities and recreation hubs across the region, promote sustainable tourism, and enhance outdoor recreation opportunities for residents and visitors alike. This effort will complement ongoing initiatives such as the New River Gorge Ride Center and regional trail system expansions within the Appalachian Heartlands Thriving Communities Program.
