Project Title: Town of Breckenridge Open Space & Trails Signage Workplan

Project Solicitation Number (if any): RFP 03122024

Project Description: The Town of Breckenridge (Town) will accept proposals from interested parties for the Town Open Space & Trails Signage Workplan. The project will be focused on creating a comprehensive and cohesive Signage Workplan to support the recently adopted Open Space & Trails Master Plan. The Signage Workplan should review and update the Town’s three categories of signs (regulatory, wayfinding, and etiquette,), reimagine trailhead kiosks, and produce related best practices such as placement, content, number, and overall philosophy for signage and kiosks. The objective of this project is to create a cohesive and effective signage system that enhances wayfinding, improves communication and etiquette messaging, is inclusive of diverse communities and trail user groups, and reinforces our brand identity. The Town recently completed a sign inventory and trailhead assessment throughout its extensive 68-mile trail network, which is available on an interactive ArcGIS map: Signage Workplan ArcGIS. The Town’s open spaces and trail network includes many jointly-owned and maintained trails in the Upper Blue River Watershed with Summit County Open Space & Trails, which network also crosses National Forest lands. The Town, Summit County Open Space & Trails, and US Forest Service are partners, striving for seamless management of open spaces and trails. Therefore, the Signage Workplan must complement the existing signage of our at Summit County Open Space & Trails and the US Forest Service Dillon Ranger District.
