Job Title: Alaska Program Manager, Corps

Job Description: Position Summary

The Student Conservation Association provides an array of crews and corps programming across the country. Program Managers, Corps, oversee Corps Team Coordinators in their corresponding regions. The Corps Program Manager position is responsible for the safe, complete and accurate execution of the Alaska Corps programs in their portfolio, in accordance with the practices and procedures established by the SCA. This person ensures successful program implementation for field staff and members. Responsibilities include supervising a team of program staff, oversight of the program delivery work scheduled, compliance with AmeriCorps, safety protocols, logistical service/program delivery needs, and mandatory internal record-keeping and administrative requirements. This position reports to the National Program Manager, Crews and Corps. The annual salary range being offered for this role is $55,000 - $60,000. The preference for the location of this role is Anchorage, AK.

Roles and Responsibilities

External Engagement:

Represent Alaska Corps Program within SCA and in Alaska
Build relationships with community organizations and land partners on a local level.
Support Partnership team locally as needed
Represent SCA Corps teams with Serve Alaska State Service Commission
Internal SCA Engagement:

Collaborate with HR and Recruitment teams representatives for leader and crew member recruiting and onboarding processes.
Collaborate with Partnership department for program implementation of work sold to agency partners
Participate with Corps and Crew Staff across the country, sharing knowledge, experience and resources
Supervise Alaska Corps Program staff
Collaborate with Alaska Crew Program Manager to support Alaska programs
Recruiting & Onboarding:

Act as hiring manager to interview and hire seasonal field leaders and Program coordinators
Collaborate with recruiter to set a hiring timeline to be field ready by program start
Assist Recruiters with the understanding of programmatic details to inform valued recruiting effort of qualified leader and member applicants
Assist HR with the onboarding requirements of crew leaders and members.
Responsible for sufficiently and effectively orienting and training coordinators and leaders to the teams work ahead of them
Program Planning & Delivery:

Supervise the Corps program, staff, leaders and members, Monitor program delivery for successful curriculum, safety outcome and administrative compliance.
Create service execution plans that are in line with standardized program models.
Collaborate with agency partner to establish the work and expectations of the Corps teams. Ensures project logistics are organized prior to fielding. And ensure the agency partner understands the goals of the program
Report, track and respond to incidents in accordance with SCA policies and procedures.
Assist the training department to execute a pre-season training for leaders and members
Monitor the completion of programmatic administrative requirements by program coordinators for their respective teams
Monitor AmeriCorps Compliance for all Corps program members
Development and monitoring of overall program budget.
Communicate regularly with the Program coordinators in weekly meetings
Ensure compliance with SCA policies and procedures
Program Improvements:

Share on-the-ground learnings, provide input, and assist Evaluation / Curriculum / Risk Management teams in design of pilots.
Monitor incident trends to improve quality of safety, adherence to mandatory administrative requirements and curriculum requirements.
Implement recommended changes from the 2022 Alaska Program Review
Experience and Qualifications

Bachelors Degree in related field preferred
5-7 years of progressively responsible experience including skills related to the position such as program coordination, leadership in an outdoor setting, experience working with programmatic partners, grant and budget management
Project management experience in a collaborative environment
Experience managing a grant funded program preferred
Experience supervising others
Budget management experience preferred
Strong communication skills when working with various external and internal partners
Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail
Experience working with young adults from racially and socioeconomically diverse backgrounds
Enjoy working with young adults in a fluid, dynamic organization
Wilderness First Responder and CPR certifications or ability to obtain within 6 months of start
Mental Health First Aid training
Experience working in conservation and strong technical outdoor skills (experience as a former Crew Leader is a plus)
Demonstrated proactive approaches to problem-solving with strong decision-making capability
Emotional maturity, flexibility and positive attitude; open to feedback
Highly resourceful team-player, with the ability to also be extremely effective independently
Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion, be adaptable to various competing demands, and demonstrate the highest level of customer/client service and response
Demonstrated ability to achieve high performance goals and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Attend required and/or pertinent training as needed
Intermediate computer skills: Microsoft suite including Teams, Outlook, Excel; Salesforce
Travel Requirements

Must possess a valid drivers license and have a Motor Vehicle Record that meets SCA standards.
Excellent driving record and ability to drive in a variety of conditions including city driving and/or use of four-wheel drive as well as standard transmission as needed.
The ability to travel for extended periods of time outside and over a variety of terrain
Supervisory responsibilities

This position manages other employees and is responsible for the performance management and adequate hiring of those employees.
