INTRODUCTION
Do you have a passion for trails? Do you love working outdoors? Do you want to make your community great? If so, then join us for an opportunity of a lifetime! The Prince William County (PWC) Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism is looking for a Maintenance and Operations Supervisor to lead a team of professionals in caring for the PWC trail system.

ABOUT THIS ROLE
The Maintenance and Operations (M & O) Supervisor is responsible for the planning, scheduling, coordinating, and completion of all trail maintenance services for the PWC Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism (DPPT). Responsibilities include the supervision of a crew in a manner that promotes a positive work environment and fosters high morale. The M&O Supervisor will be responsible for interdepartmental coordination and communication in the development and design of the PWC Trail System, including working with volunteers, stakeholder groups, elected officials, neighboring jurisdictions, and the general public. The M&O Supervisor is responsible for quality control and performance management, and for ensuring that their staff and grounds operations are compliant with agency, local, state, and federal policies/rules/regulations. The M&O Supervisor will operate independently under general guidelines, will lead by example, and will perform both field work and office work. The M&O Supervisor is responsible for training, coaching, and mentoring of staff for tasks and techniques employed in the maintenance and care of trails and applicable equipment. The M&O Supervisor will be responsible for measuring and calculating areas, volumes, and rates as necessary for estimating materials/supplies, calibrating equipment, and for making product applications. Over the next five years, the trails maintenance team will grow exponentially as new projects are developed and the M & O Supervisor will need to recruit and train new crew members. In addition to working for a top-50 employer in Virginia, the position comes with unparalleled benefits including health and dental coverage, enrollment in the Virginia Retirement System, a defined contributions plan with County match, 11 paid holidays, 4 personal leave days, and generous training and professional development support.
