Project Title: Trowbridge Forest Trail Construction Project: Mesa Trails Phas
Project Description: The Trowbridge Forest Recreational Masterplan will expand the existing trail system in Thunder Bay by 15km by adding a variety of trails and a bike skills park. Construction will start this summer with 3 RFP's being issued.
The Mesa Trails Phase includes the construction of 6km of intermediate and advanced trail. The Trowbridge Mesa zone has the most elevation in Trowbridge Forest and will be a completely new zone for the trail system. This area features large side slopes, small cliffs, rock and boulder piles, and Canadian Shield slab. Trail design should take advantage of the many unique natural features to create unique technical trail features (TTFs). In general, the trails in this area should feed off the environment and flow naturally through forest, rock, and ridges.
The approximate length of the trails to be constructed is 6050 meters. It is composed of the following 7 trails:
1. Lookout Trail - 2,600 m
2. Top of the Ridge - 940 m
3. Bottom of the Ridge - 570 m
4. Advanced Rock Technical Lines - 457 m
5. East/West Connector - 686 m
6. Hydro Hill By-Pass - 570 m
7. The Vein - 440 m
