Project Title: Trowbridge Forest Trail Construction Project: Balsam Connector Trails Phase
Project Description: The Trowbridge Forest Recreational Masterplan will expand the existing trail system in Thunder Bay by 15km by adding a variety of trails and a bike skills park. Construction will start this summer with 3 RFP's being issued.
The Balsam Connector Trails Phase includes the construction of beginner and intermediate trails to connect a new trailhead to the existing trail system. It is expected that the Balsam trailhead will be a high traffic zone and the trails starting in this area will see a high volume of users for all types of recreation activities. The woods are very open in areas and the tread should flow across the low knolls of land above the wetlands. Optional features and blue side trails should maximize the small cliff lines and sections of rock found throughout.
The approximate length of the Trail is 3750 meters. It is composed of the following four segments:
1. Balsam Connector – 2,250m
2. Beginner Side Trail – 822m
3. Intermediate Side Trail #1 – 484m
4. Intermediate Side Trail #2 – 273m
