Project Title: Broadford Park Trail System - Phase 1
Project Description: This project consists of constructing approximately 1 mile of Class III Trail in the Broadford Lake Park located in Mountain Lake Park, MD. This trail segment is located primarily on <25% side slope and flat terrain and will require lift and tilt construction of local material to elevate trail tread sufficiently enough to drain and to provide user/bike optimized trail. Included in this trail design are eight technical trail features, designed by the contractor and approved by the Town. The trail will require installation of choke and corral structures to sufficiently control tread short cutting and limit user defined pathways. Sufficient local rock can be harvested from approved areas along existing extraction routes throughout the park, with approval from the Town. The trail tread will use locally harvested soil amended with ½” minus sized aggregate (limestone dust) to provide an all weather tread surface. This trail will be a Class III Trail: front country trail with an ability rating of easy/green circle. The average trail width will vary between 42 inches and 54 inches, and have a running grade of 3-5%.
