Additional Project Bid Information: The Raven Ridge Natural Area is a 363-acre property owned and managed by The Nature Conservancy in Monkton, Charlotte and Hinesburg, Vermont. Protected for its diversity of habitats, the property is a bobcat denning site, supports a raven nest and contains summer roosting habitat for the federally endangered Indiana Bat.

Managing public use to allow low-impact enjoyment of the scenic natural resources at Raven Ridge, while ensuring that the conservation targets are also maintained is a high priority for the property. Over the last 6 years we have developed a single trail loop system to provide safe, sustainable access to the area. This includes an 8-car parking area, approximately 500’ of elevated boardwalk across a wetland that is subject to up to 24” of flooding by beavers, and 400’ of elevated puncheon walkway. The Raven Ridge Natural Area parking lot is located at 1697 Rotax Road, Monkton, VT.

We are currently seeking to expand the trail infrastructure to increase accessibility to people of all abilities while maintaining the ecological integrity of the natural area. This phase of trail development at Raven Ridge will include upgrading our existing boardwalk to meet ADA accessibility guidelines, and possibly extending the boardwalk to culminate in an overlook platform at the beaver pond.

We are seeking a contractor to analyze the existing boardwalk and develop a cost-effective design for upgrading the boardwalk in a collaborative process with TNC staff. The chosen contractor will be expected to meet with TNC staff to discuss the goals for the Raven Ridge Natural area and provide preliminary conceptual ideas for our consideration and approval.
