Project Title: Ohio - West Branch State Park Mountain Bike Trail - Construction

Project Solicitation Number (if any): SRC0000016685

Project Description: West Branch State Park in Portage County is situated on the glaciated plateau of northeastern Ohio. There are approximately 11 miles of traditional cross country mountain bike trails on the south side of the Michael J Kirwan Reservoir. These trails vary in difficulty from moderate to difficult. The existing trails utilize decommissioned roadways to link the trails together. There is a strong partnership with the Cleveland Area Mountain Bike Association (CAMBA) volunteers and ODNR on the current maintenance and future development of the trails. This project for the addition of roughly 9 miles of trails, will create a stacked loop system and allow riders access from multiple trailheads. The new trails will allow for a more well-rounded cross country mountain bike trail system. The loop system with encourage new riders to develop their skills on beginner trails while providing expert riders milage and technical rocky trails that will make West Branch a destination for all mountain bikers. The completed trail system will allow us to host NICA mountain bike events and draw in additional visitors and spectators to enjoy these trail as well as the other amenities found at West Branch State Park.
