Little White Oak Mountain Trail Network - NC

Project Description: The Polk County Local Government is issuing a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) from Design Firms (DF) to provide professional design services for the development of the Little White Oak Mountain (LWOM) Bike Trail.

The Project consists of the on‐the‐ground design and construction documentation for approximately eight (8) miles of natural surface, mixed‐use, mountain bike‐optimized trail that is part of the LWOM mountain bike trail network. The trail network is part of the Recreation Complex in Mill Spring, NC, in the center of the county. This extension will be optimized for natural resource protection and trail sustainability and will be open to multiple trail users: mountain bikers, hikers, and trail runners. Key components of the development of this project will include multi‐use on‐the‐ground design, survey & layout, wetland & stream delineation, and soil & erosion control. Design must meet the requirements of DEQ and PARTF/RTP granting agencies.
Polk County has included this trail network in the master site plan for the park, and have made trails a priority in their Parks and Recreation agency‐wide master plan. The trail network will eventually connect to a workforce housing development adjacent to HWY 108.
