Project Title: Development of the Trail of Tears National Historic Trail at Blythe Ferry

Project Solicitation Number (if any):

Project Description: The Southeast Tennessee Development District, hereinafter SETDD, in cooperation with the National Park Service (NPS), is soliciting proposals for trail development related to Trail of Tears National Historic Trail (NHT). This document will refer to the event as the Trail of Tears and refer to the NHT when discussing the Congressionally designated trail.

The project scope will only include phase one in the provided construction documents. The services will involve: the construction of an approximately .28 mile retracement trail following the historic alignment of the Trail of Tears NHT that is compatible with the NHT and non-intrusive to the surrounding natural environment, and the construction of two interpretive nodes at the beginning and end of the trail. This retracement trail was envisioned as part of a larger NPS-developed charrette conceptual plan for the Cherokee Removal Memorial Park in Meigs, County in 2001.
