Project Title: RFQ Braemar Park Mountain Biking and Hiking Trails

Project Solicitation Number (if any): Quest CDN 8997084

Project Description: The City of Edina is proposing to develop a new mountain biking and hiking trail system at Braemar Park within a primarily wooded natural resource area bordering the west, east, and south side perimeter of the existing golf course. This project is adjacent to residential housing as well as heavily recreated parkland. Approximately eight miles of mountain bike trails and three miles of pedestrian hiking trails are proposed to be constructed in 2024 season. Mountain bike trail features will include a jump line trail, rock gardens, rock drops, and embankment turns. A pedestrian hiking trail system will be integrated around the perimeter of the mountain bike trail system with several smaller looped trails within the east and west segments of the site. Consideration is also being given to making a portion of the hiking trail accessible and installing class two aggregate surfacing along a portion of the trail system. The City is currently undertaking buckthorn removal efforts within the proposed trail development area which will be completed by the end of March and proposed trail construction will begin in late April or early May with completion by early October. Plan sets and specifications for bidding will be available on QuestCDN on March 4th. A pre-qualification submittal will be required for all bidders to validate representative experience constructing mountain bike and hiking trail systems.
