Job Title: Wilderness Project Liaison
Job Description: The Wilderness Project Liaison (WPL) will serve in the Selway-Bitterroot and Frank Church-River of No Return Wilderness areas and surrounding wildlands on the Nez Perce-Clearwater, Bitterroot, Salmon-Challis, and Payette National Forests. The position will report to the SBFC Program Director and work collaboratively with the Volunteer Coordinator. The WPL will lead volunteer projects and support SBFC crews in the field as needed. Responsibilities will include leading and supporting volunteer project trips, meal planning and preparation, coordinating logistics, project supplies and equipment, and organizing gear. The WPL will lead volunteer projects on their own or with Lead Wilderness Steward and Wilderness Ranger Fellows. While on a volunteer project with a Lead Wilderness Steward (LWS) and Wilderness Ranger Fellows, the WPL will work collaboratively with the LWS to lead the volunteers and Fellows. The WSL will also provide wilderness skills training and wilderness education to volunteers.
The work schedule will vary depending on the locations of the volunteer trips. It will typically be an 8-10 day hitch model of work followed by 4-6 days off. Work will be required on many weekends and some holidays.
