Job Title: Trail Builder - MTB Trails
Job Description: Ptarmigan Ptrails, LLC is a Pacific Northwest based trail construction company with a mission to provide fun, sustainable, aesthetically pleasing and user specific trails. We are a company of riders looking for experienced trail builders who are active riders to join our team for the long term.
Crew Member Positions are full time employment with the possibility of nearly year round trail work with a short break in the winter. Incentives include travel, working with a great group of builders from diverse backgrounds, riding your bike a lot, discounts on bikes and gear and making a living building trails in unique places.
Responsibilities:
-Mechanized and hand built trail construction
-Sawing and Clearing corridor to clearing limits
-Using variety of hand tools for trail tread finishing
-Providing shaping and finish work of mountain bike and multi-use specific trail features
-Logistic and expediter support for equipment operations
-Work with other crew members in sometimes remote settings
-Ability to work standard 8-10 hour days, with opportunity for overtime if needed to reach benchmarks or fire/weather shutdown windows
Required Qualifications/Experience:
-Experience building sustainable mountain bike trails
-Excavator and skid steer trail construction experience
-Chainsaw operation and maintenance experience
-Experience building varied tread texture (roots, rocks, traditional, flow)
-Knowledge of small engines and power equipment
-Basic carpentry or masonry skills
-Ability to work autonomously with little direct supervision
-Hand crew experience
-Experience riding, interpreting and understanding a variety of mountain bike trail experiences
-Applicants must have ability to travel to projects outside their home area for up to 4-6 weeks at a time
-Due to shared project lodging, employees shall be COVID 19 Vaccinated or show proof of antibody/recovery from COVID 19
Salary and Benefits:
-Hourly, based on experience
-Possibility of increased pay rates on public works projects
-Paid travel expenses
-Lodging and Per-diem provided outside home base
-Ptarmigan Ptrails will provide mileage compensation on a situational basis if employees use their own vehicles for work purposes
-Health Insurance after 60 work days of employment
