Job Title: Corps Leader - Superior National Forest
Job Description: The Corps Leader will be leading a team of 3 SCA Members and work with partners at the USFS to maintain and restore trails and campsites throughout Superior National Forest.
This position requires the leader have Wilderness First Aid certification, Backcountry camping and chainsaw experience.
This team will serve for 18 weeks. Highlights of the summer will be working in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness and on the North Country National Scenic Trail.
Work will include using traditional maintenance tools such as a crosscut saws to perform trail logout, or a variety of hand tools for tread, drainage work, and campsite restoration. Crews may also use chain saws or power tools, depending on the project location and team member training / experience. Most work will be with hand tools.
Crews will be camping throughout the season at back country sites. Team will often have to paddle in and portaging to the work site. Members should not expect reliable cell service or regular access to electricity. Members should expect gorgeous natural areas.
