POSITION TITLE -Trail Designer

Role Overview
Are you a trail enthusiast who has a passion for the great outdoors? Do you have a passion for trail building, growing the sport of mountain biking, and working with volunteers? McElhanney is seeking a well-rounded Trail Designer to join our team in Canmore, AB. The successful individual will work to master plan, design, and layout mountain bike trails, bike parks, hiking trails, as well as wider commuter type trails. Working alongside multidisciplinary teams, the successful candidate will be able to independently coordinate, design, and manage trail projects from inception to completion.
Responsibilities
• Provide master planning and detailed design for trail projects
• Coordinate the compiling of base information, identifying land uses and constraints to the proposed trail development
• Manage client communications and ensure all client requirements are met throughout the design and construction processes
• Coordinate with team members to ensure schedules, budgets, and quality control standards are achieved
• Prepare tender documents and manage the tender process
• Manage trail construction and maintenance activities
• Travel to remote locations, often in thick brush, for extended periods of trail layout.
