Job Title: Extra Help Trail Maintenance Coordinator
Job Description: This position develops, coordinates and oversees the maintenance program for the park’s 50-mile trail system, with cooperation from park staff and volunteers. Duties include daily field maintenance and occasional rerouting of trail tread of hiking, mountain biking and equestrian trails. Coordinator completes most tasks without assistance but will also receive assistance and provide oversight of volunteers and volunteer groups when available. Position utilizes and maintains numerous trail construction and trimming hand tools, as well as operates power equipment, including weed eater, chainsaws (certification will be provided) and various other power hand tools. Occasionally duties may include the construction and maintenance of prescribed fire lines and park boundaries. Other functions include the completion of electronic trail maintenance reports and other associated documentation which requires previous experience and ability to operate a computer, along with the Microsoft Suite software package.
Applicant must have a valid driver’s license and driver’s record check will be performed. In order to supervise volunteers and approved projects, must be able to work a flexible schedule, including some weekends and holidays. Work schedule will be 32 hours, four days a week, approximately 1,800 hours annually. This position requires fieldwork, so the applicant must have the ability to complete medium to heavy physical tasks; traverse a variety of terrain and may work in inclement weather. This position receives paid holidays and retirement.
