Job Description: MAINE COAST HERITAGE TRAVELING ASSISTANT STEWARD
5 MONTH POSITION
Maine Coast Heritage Trust (MCHT) is looking for a Traveling Assistant Steward who will pair up with another Traveling Assistant Steward working on many of the Trust’s mainland and island preserves under the supervision of our Regional Stewardship staff from May-mid October. Work will include preserve maintenance such as trail clearing, trail improvement, boundary marking, painting structures, basic carpentry, vegetation control and basic maintenance of tools and vehicles. Although not directly responsible for public education, the Assistant Stewards will be representing MCHT and will be expected to interact positively with the public when there is an opportunity. The Assistant Stewards will move frequently, although will occasionally work at the same site for more than one week.
This position will be based from Mount Desert Island where MCHT will provide accommodations. When working at other sites, accommodations will vary. There will be cabins at some sites, other sites will require camping. Days will be long, and days off will be clustered. Some basic gear will be provided.
