Job Title: AmeriCorps Holden Arboretum Trails Assistant
Job Description: Duties and Responsibilities of the AmeriCorps member serving this role:
General Member Responsibilities
• Promote the Northern Ohio Watershed Corps through education and outreach activities
• Enhance skills and knowledge applicable to position through participation in related workshops,
conferences, and training
• Plan, Facilitate, and Participate in group service projects for National Days of Service
• Attend all NOWCorps required meetings and trainings
• Complete activity & data reports monthly, required timesheets weekly, and any other reporting in a
timely manner in the OnCorps online system
• All other duties as assigned within the limitations of this member description
Host Site Specific Member Responsibilities
• Support the delivery of HF&G mission through enabling guests to access natural areas and immerse
themselves in the Outer Collections and Natural Areas of the Arboretum
• Gain practical, hands-on experience in sustainable landscape practices and procedures
• Perform assessments of existing, regularly used trail conditions and required works
• Perform assessment of multiple trails fallen out of regular use and future works required to open
them up
• Use the in-house Annual Operations Planning document to note, refine and prioritize all activities
suggested for the trails program improvement
• Work with Horticulturists to design new alternate-week mowing regimes within the Arboretum Core
to define new trails and access to Collections
• Attend in-house training to work with HF&G volunteers, recognize and develop volunteer
opportunities
