Job Title: Program Coordinator

Job Description: The Student Conservation Association (SCA), a national force of youth conservation volunteers, has an exciting opportunity in our Program Department. America’s #1 youth conservation service organization seeks a Program Coordinator in Long Lake, NY.

Position Summary: The Student Conservation Association provides an array of corps and crews programming across the country. Program Coordinators help with the administrative and logistical tasks of executing program in their corresponding cities/area. The Program Coordinator position is responsible for ensuring the logistical and administrative task lists associated with the safe, complete and accurate execution of SCA’s various Residential programs in their portfolio are completed in a timely manner. This person helps ensures Corps Members and Project Leaders are equipped for the program delivery work scheduled, comply with curriculum and AmeriCorps mandates, safety controls, logistical service/program delivery needs, and mandatory internal record-keeping and administrative requirements. This position reports to the Program Manager.

Roles and Responsibilities

External Engagement:
Work with program partners to develop and implement project work plans;
Schedule and conduct project site visits when applicable;
Represent Residential Program at SCA and other events;
Assist Program Manager, Residential in building relationships with community organizations and land partners on a local level.

Recruiting & Onboarding:
Assist with recruitment and orientation of members and Project Leaders to prepare them for the work ahead of them;
Provide members and Project Leaders with necessary supplies and other logistical requirements;
Responsible for assisting HR as requested with the in-person onboarding requirements of members and Project Leaders;

Program Planning & Delivery:
Help plan and organize project logistics prior to and during the program;
Actively coordinate project/member risk to maintain a safe work environment;
Assure members and self are adhering to AmeriCorps, SCA, and partner policies and procedures as informed by the Program Manager and SCA trainings;
Assist the Program Manager in tracking and reporting on member activities via accurate and timely completion of service logs and collection of before/during/after photos
Serve as the primary day to day member supervisor and project support, including the creation of: work plans, weekly and daily schedule member schedule, and the project schedule (collaboratively with partners)
Serve as the program’s primary partner liaison for members weekly schedules, scheduling of project logistics, and materials procurement;
Manage and maintain the program’s tool and equipment cache, including assuring proper maintenance and timely repair, and procuring tools and equipment as needed;
Manage and purchase tools, food, equipment, and supplies in the field;
Approve member timesheets in an accurate and timely manner as set by the SCA and the Program Manager;
Track and code all personal program expenses as per SCA and Program Manager guidelines;
Assist in the evaluation of program members during the mid-season and end of program evaluation seasons;
Promote leadership development within the team and evaluate success & potential.
Program Improvements:
Role model SCA mission and values to members and program partners;
Assist Program Manager with administrative duties, such as financial reporting, completion of member service logs;
Other duties as assigned by the Program Manager.

Internal SCA Engagement:
Liaise with HR and Recruitment teams representatives for crew and member recruiting and onboarding processes;
Responsible for keeping abreast of internal policies and procedures and AmeriCorps requirements, such as but not only weekly time-keeping logs, narrative reporting for funders, and other SCA mandates, and ensuring Team Coordinators’ timely and accurate compliance.

Qualifications and Requirements

2 - 3 years of progressively responsible experience including skills related to the position
Minimum of 21 years of age
Previous trail construction and maintenance experience required.
Prior experience supervising young adults in an outdoor setting.
Proven ability to organize and inventory large quantities of supplies and materials.
Valid driver’s license and MVR that meets SCA standards.
Current or ability to obtain Wilderness First Responder or higher/ CPR certification.
Criminal background check that meets SCA standard required.
Community organizing skills and strong capacity to work in a team.
Proven organizational, and program development skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including effective Microsoft Word, Excel and Internet experience.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Education and Experience

Requirements
2-5 years’ experience working in a related field
Proven ability to multi-task and troubleshoot in a fast-paced environment
Attention to detail and follow through on administrative tasks
