Job Description: Highland Mountain Bike Park and Highland Trails - Trail Builder positions

Mission and vision: 

Our mission is to be the premier experts in: trail design, construction, maintenance and operations for the mountain biking industry. By expanding trail networks local and regional, we’re helping to grow the industry and get more people on bikes.

Available positions include:

Apprentice Trail Builder:
Experience building and maintaining trails.
Basic use and maintenance of chainsaws and other power equipment.

Journeyman Level One:
Must have worked and completed all tasks as an apprentice trail builder.
Must be able to operate excavation equipment in harsh conditions.
Ability to learn the art of trail building with excavation equipment.
Must know how to safely use a chainsaw and cut large trees.
Basic maintenance and repair of excavators in the field.

Journeyman Level Two:
Must have worked and completed all tasks as a Level One trail builder.
At least 2,000 hours building Freeride and Tech trails with excavation equipment.
Must be able to assess and manage water flows.
Lead a team of apprentice and Level one trail builders.
Ability to work and plan strategy with the team leaders and Master builders.

Master Trail Builder:
Must have worked and completed all tasks as a Level Two trail builder.
At least 10,000 hours designing, building, and maintaining all types of trails.
Ability to oversee all trail builders.

Essential qualifications for all trail builders of Highland Mountain Bike Park Highland Trails:
Strong bike handling skills.
Ability to lift 60lbs off the ground.
Ability to do physical work 8 hours a day, 5 days a week.
Experience and ability to work in harsh conditions.
Ability to take and follow directions.
Ability to work effectively with a wide range of people.
Self-directed, requiring minimal supervision.
Ability to use hand tools for trail maintenance and building.
Must be able to commute to Northfield, NH, or jobsite. Onsite housing is not available.

Other job details:
Approximately 40 hours a week, starting mid-April through November 15th.
Potential for full-time year-round employment.
Monday through Friday 7:00 am through 3:30 pm
Occasional weekend work offered.
Pay based on experience.
