Job Title: Senior Trail Technician

Job Description: CAMBA TRAIL CREW
Every summer, the Chequamegon Area Mountain Bike Association (CAMBA) hires limited-term employees to work on its summer trail building and maintenance crews.

All trail crew workers are paid an hourly wage with standard payroll deductions and no additional benefits. Work begins as early as mid-May depending on the availability of crew. 

Location: Northwest Wisconsin: Cable, Namakagon, Seeley, Hayward, Mt. Ashwabay.

TRAIL CREW JOB DESCRIPTION: SENIOR TRAIL TECHNICIAN

A successful candidate will have the following attributes:
Experience: Two years of previous similar or related experience and a high level of aptitude
Self-motivation
Ability to take direction
Ability to work independently without constant supervision
Mechanical and technical aptitude
Physical fitness: Ability to lift 50 lbs. and walk long distances on rugged terrain

Work will include maintaining singletrack mountain bike trails and other designated bike routes. Tasks will include brushing, mowing, leaf blowing, sign and map installation, tread improvements and other duties. 

Work will also include hand building singletrack trail to sustainable standards and performing rehab and other maintenance work to insure proper drainage, sustainability and safety on existing trails as well as hand finishing machine-built trail.

This is physically demanding work and a good basic level of fitness is necessary. Individuals should be comfortable working all day outdoors and dealing with weather and other natural challenges. A reasonable comfort level with hand tools and some power tools is expected.

Dates: Early May – late-August/mid-Sept. There is some flexibility with this schedule, but all crew must be able to commit to working this entire time frame.

Work Schedule: 8 hours per day, 5 days per week.

Rate of pay: $15-$18 per hour, depending on experience and following a training period rate with standard payroll employment tax deductions.

Additional Educational Components: Crew members may also be offered the opportunity to receive chainsaw safety, first aid/CPR training, and attend other classroom and field learning experiences.

Minimum age: 18. Reliable automobile transportation is necessary.
