Job Title: Team Leader

Job Description: The Youth Corps Team Leader is a temporary, supervisory level classification with the Boulder County Youth Corps summer program. Team Leaders supervise a team of up to 10 adolescents aged 14-17 at a variety of work sites for eight weeks and mentor the development of personal accomplishment, teamwork, and community service with their team members. 

This is a seasonal, hourly position with Boulder County with anticipated ending date of 8/6/2022. Work hours will vary, during training period hours will be Monday - Friday from 8:00am- 4:30pm, during the season hours will generally be 7:30am - 5:00pm Monday - Thursday and 9:00am- 11:00am on Fridays. This position will either work in Boulder or Longmont.  

As of December 1, 2021, Boulder County requires all employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or request an approved accommodation within ten days of accepting an offer of employment. A person is considered fully vaccinated two weeks after completion of a two-dose mRNA series or one dose of Johnson and Johnson vaccine.  


Hiring Hourly Wage: $19.70 hourly

Examples of Duties
The Team Leader is responsible for the transportation and management of the team, which includes the following duties: administration, project management, supervision and discipline, and evaluation of Corpsmembers and the Assistant Team Leader. Carries out other related duties as assigned by Youth Corps staff.
Explains, encourages, and monitors the site-specific work expectations of the Corpsmembers under their supervision on a daily basis.
Teaches and trains Corpsmembers in the skills necessary for them to successfully accomplish the site-specific work plans.
Works cooperatively with sponsoring agency personnel to develop and monitor site-specific work plans carried out by the Corpsmembers under their supervision.
Encourages, trains, and monitors for safety on the work site and is trained to respond with CPR/First Aid in the event of an accident or emergency.
Keeps accurate records on each Corpsmember, which include documentation of hours worked, incident reports, progress reports and evaluations, and logs of all observations and disciplinary actions.
Maintains the useful working condition and an accurate inventory of all tools used by the team.
Facilitates all team meetings: teaches or leads group activities designed to encourage the development of teamwork, conflict resolution, communication, goal setting, decision making, community service, and environmental education.
Works in cooperation with Youth Corps staff to integrate job skills, life skills, and service to the community with the site-specific project work. 


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 
Boulder County is looking for well qualified candidates to fill our positions. Any combination of relevant education and experience is encouraged. In this position, we are looking for a minimum a high School diploma or equivalent and a combination of at least two years of college coursework and/or field experience. At least one full summer of experience supervising or teaching a comparable size group of middle and/or high school aged youth.

Applicants must have a valid driver's license as well as a motor vehicle background check

LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION AND/OR REFERENCES:
Must include two letters of recommendation or three references with current contact information (including email). Please note: if you have worked with the Youth Corps before you only need to submit one letter of recommendation or two references from people not affiliated with the Youth Corps. Please note: References from family members unless they have served as your employer will not be accepted.  

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must be 21 years old as of first day of corpsmembers.

Parks, open space, trails, or landscaping experience

Physical Requirements: Frequently lifts up to 30 lbs. and carries up to 50 feet; occasionally lifts up to 30 lbs. from floor to knuckle; frequently lifts up to 20 lbs. from shoulder to overhead; occasionally pushes and pulls items weighing up to 100 lbs.; occasionally performs bi-lateral lift of 30 lbs. and carries up to 50 ft.; frequently lifts up to 35 lbs. from waist level and lowers to floor. Frequently bends at waist, squats, kneels, shovels, and rakes. Occasionally climbs ladder; must be able to stand and balance on ladder; occasionally walks over uneven terrain.
