Job Title: White Mountain Trails Supervisor

Job Description: This dynamic position offers an excellent mix of administration and field work to support and coordinate the oldest profession trail crew in the United States. The White Mountain Trails Supervisor is responsible for the administration of AMC’s White Mountain Professional Trail Crew, including the recruitment, training, and oversight of backcountry trail crews working within the White Mountain Region of New Hampshire and Western Maine. Since 1919 AMC’s White Mountain Professional Trail Crew has been a team of highly skilled and dedicated individuals maintaining over 385 miles of non-motorized trails in the White Mountain region. Administrative offices are located at AMC Pinkham Notch Visitor Center and field season trail crews are based out of AMC Camp Dodge Trails Center in the White Mountains, NH.  

The White Mountain Trails Supervisor is responsible for project logistics, trail layout, trail signing, and trails facilities maintenance while supporting trail crews in the field ensuring the highest standards of safety and work quality. This position will also work with volunteer leaders, AMC committees, ATC, USFS, various land trusts, and other partners as needed. The WMTS is also responsible for fostering relationships with trail volunteers and regional land managers to ensure future collaboration. Opportunities for professional trail crews outside of the White Mountain region is quite possible in future years. 

The White Mountain Trails Supervisor reports to the AMC Assistant Director of Trails and will work closely with a variety of staff located at Pinkham Notch Visitor Center, Highland Center at Crawford Notch, AMC Headquarters in Boston, MA, Western Massachusetts, and Maine. This full-time, exempt position offers a competitive salary and excellent benefits.
