Project Description:
A Master Plan for development of Silent Sports trails within the Rockford Park District was developed in 2016. Phase 1 of trail construction at Atwood Park was completed in 2019. Phase 1 included 4.5 miles of natural surface trails and construction of the trailhead. The current phase (Phase 2) is to include development of the following areas (in order of priority):
1) A minimum 2-3 miles of multi-use single track in the East Expert Zone
2) The multi-use beginner loop south of the river
3) Development of multi-use return trails between the East Expert Zone, quarry, and Trailhead Zone
4) Development of downhill flow trails within the Trailhead Zone
