Project Title: Carters Lake Mountain Bike Trail, Ridgeway Recreation Area Project - Phase 1

Project Description: The Gilmer County Board of Commissioners, in partnership with USACE Carters Lake and North Georgia Mountain Bike Association (SORBA) wishes to create a locally significant, high quality mountain bike optimized trail system and that offers feature rich trail experiences that are technical and well constructed. The goal of the trail construction described within this RFQ is to build a 2-mile loop intermediate, or “blue”, level bike optimized mountain bike trail with TTFs and a 1-mile expert, or "black", level bike optimized mountain bike trail with TTFs that ties into 1-mile of pre-existing trail to create a loop. A 50ft handbuilt on the expert loop by volunteers will be incorporated. Trail runners and hikers will also have access to these trails. The trail should not only provide for mountain bike optimized recreation, but also ensure natural resource protection through stabilized spoils and positive drainage. The trail shall be intended for foot and bicycle traffic only.
